The Ladder of Life

Welcome to my Blog. I am an Investment Advisor living and working in Port Alberni, but just as importantly, I am a wife, mother, volunteer, and an active and supportive community member. I believe we can all take charge of our destiny, our future, with the proper mind-set, sense of direction, goals and tenacity to attain what we dream about. Think of your life as a ladder, with the steps numbered one through ten. The top of the steps represents the best possible life we can have, while the bottom is the worst. Where do you feel you personally stand at this point in your life? Where would you like to stand? I believe we all have the power to get to that top step, and I hope that some of the blog posts in the weeks and months to come, will inspire you to get there.

Happy New Year! || Port Alberni and West Coast Investment Advisor

The new year is a time when many people feel they can begin fresh and are hopeful for good things coming their way.  Some like to make new year’s resolutions, but it’s important to make sure that the resolutions are achievable.  If we set ourselves goals that are too difficult to attain, we become discouraged if we get sidetracked or find ourselves not achieving those goals.  Here are some of the more common resolutions people make.

At the top of the list is spending more time with family and friends.  And so it should be!
  • Making time for regular exercise and fitness
  • Lose some weight!
  • Quit smoking
  • Quit drinking
  • Get out of debt
  • Learn something new
  • Help others
  • Get organized
All of these resolutions, if a person can achieve them, are guidelines for living a healthier lifestyle.  You will notice that four of the resolutions are about health – choosing healthy daily patterns of eating and exercise, and avoiding unhealthy habits such as smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.  The other resolutions are more about our emotional health which is just as important.  When both our emotional and physical health is good, we are going to feel great.  What’s your resolution for 2013?  Pick one thing you would like to achieve and write down the steps needed to accomplish it.  It doesn’t matter if it takes you all twelve months to get there, but set yourself a goal that will make you feel better about yourself and it will indeed be a happy new year!

One of my daily goals is to take a few moments out of each day to pay attention and really "see" the world around me. Too often our busy schedules get in the way of our ability to stop and pay attention to everything around us.  We live in a truly beautiful world, and when I stop to pay attention to the beauty of nature around me, it reminds me just how precious life is and to be thankful for each and every day.  Here are a few beautiful photos to share with you to remind you of the spectacular beauty in our world.
