I recently visited the Port Alberni branch of the SPCA and I was
reminded again that as we go about our daily lives, it’s very easy to lose
sight of what is really important.
No matter what we do, whether we are at home or at work, the most
important thing should be the connections we make with people (and animals) in
our lives. Your ability to connect
with other people will determine your happiness and success in life – at home
and in business. Let’s stop and
think for a moment about the loyalty and unwavering love a dog has for its
owner. What if we treated our
family, friends and work associates the way our pet dog treats us, assuming of
course that we have a friendly, loving dog. We could learn a lot from our canine friends. When you get home at the end of the
day, your dog greets you as though you are the most important, loving person in
the world. They are happy to see
you, even if you’re half an hour late. Dogs are especially happy at meal time and never complain
about having leftovers! Dogs
accept you just as you are, not for the type of job you have, the car your
drive, or the clothes you wear.
Dogs can be trained, and they understand the word “no”! Well-known dog trainer, Barbara
Woodhouse says “I can train any dog in five minutes. It’s training the owner that takes longer.” Dogs are an important part of our
culture and family life. The next
time you gaze into your dog’s eyes, think about their totally selfless,
unwavering love, and strive to be just as loving and kind to your fellow man,
as your dog is to you. Here are a
few dog photos to remind you just how special our furry friends are.
The Ladder of Life
Welcome to my Blog. I am an Investment Advisor living and working in Port Alberni, but just as importantly, I am a wife, mother, volunteer, and an active and supportive community member. I believe we can all take charge of our destiny, our future, with the proper mind-set, sense of direction, goals and tenacity to attain what we dream about. Think of your life as a ladder, with the steps numbered one through ten. The top of the steps represents the best possible life we can have, while the bottom is the worst. Where do you feel you personally stand at this point in your life? Where would you like to stand? I believe we all have the power to get to that top step, and I hope that some of the blog posts in the weeks and months to come, will inspire you to get there.
